My work demonstrates the unstable and shifting nature of humanity and the inherent ability of all living things to age and transform.
I frequently work with in a thematic series that deals with the existence of life, death and adaption. Using sculpture, film and drawing to invoke a transformative methodology that examines ideologies around consumption. My aesthetic is drawn to a Grotesque but beautiful sensibility as I find brilliance and energy in objects that invoke story or memory.
These alternative spaces/artworks are inspired by historical and scientific evidence that become a merger of reality and possibility. They embody the past and present, through memory and story, containing elements of science, fantasy, and magic surrealism.
The Captured series examines how technology is used to create ideologies and control behavior. I use materials from outdated technologies such as vinyl records, VHS tapes and film to create another story. Manipulating and transforming media into another altered reality - a reality reflecting a history of life throw death and the pommel way life reminding us that we are part of a much larger narrative.
I employ the same seductive devices as mass media but with a different agenda that of reframing historic associations and simultaneously re-inventing the present. Working in a wide range of media including installation, sculpture, drawing and photography, incorporating found objects from outdated technologies. My aim is to imprint different images; to revisit, rewind and rewrite arbitrary commodities that are part of shaping and defining race, gender, class and culture.
Tragedy and oppression physical changes the chemistry of our bodies and our mind but its also a part of the equation for cultural evolution. Im interested in that rare paradigm that becomes the main character in my work. The self-being and embodiment of the protagonist and the antagonist mutating into a truly unbelievable super-being.
